I went on a hike with a friend in the outback of Westen Australia. At one point we walked through thick bushland and trees and all of a sudden my friend said "wooaah, what the fk?!" I stopped and looked up from the ground and realised that we were surrounded by thousand of Christmas Spiders which are brightly coloured strange looking things. We didn't know if they were poisonous or not at the time and trying to find a way out of the gigantic nest we had walked into was almost impossible. Every direction we walked in there just seemed to be more and more with huge webs covering our faces and clothes. It took about 5 minutes until we finally got out of there. Luckily it turned out that they weren't poisonous but it was still a seriously freaky moment in time!

I’m 36. Used heroin, oxy, dilaudid, fentanyl, pretty much any opiate I could find since I was 18. Stopped when I was 30, been on subutex ever since. The high that you get from heroin is something that really only happens for the immediate beginning of your abuse cycle. After that, you don’t really get much of a high, you’re just using to not be sick at that point. And when I say sick, I mean violently fucking fucking ill. if somebody offered me free pure heroin right now, I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole because that sickness is just damn near impossible to get through. It’s 30 days of physical withdrawals followed by another 30 days of not being able to sleep at all… And Subutex, Suboxone, or they all give you withdrawals as well, so tape all the way down to 1 mg of buprenorphine per day and I’m still dreading jumping off all the way because that sickness is sure to follow, as someone else said in the comments, your body pain receptors are relying on opiates for your everyday pain, relief rather than producing its own endogenous morphine, also known as endorphins. I feel blessed to be where I am. Now I have a bottle of Percocet in my safe from when I broke my arm last year and I haven’t even touched them. The Zac from age 24 would’ve eaten all of them in one afternoon. It’s a hell of a disease. But yeah, these days in America there’s no such thing as pure heroin anymore, everybody sells fentanyl disguised as heroin. Which is why the death rate is so high from it. You can die from just a couple of milligrams of fentanyl if you don’t have a tolerance to opiates. I’ve lost a lot of friends like that. I’ve also been a musician since I was born and I can tell you that heroin does not do much for your guitar playing abilities lol I can see where it may put you in a relaxed state when it comes to writing, but nodding out and drooling on yourself is never an optimal state to be in as a performing artist. It just doesn’t work like that. A lot of the stories and Rolling Stone magazines try to make it out like Heroin is this kind of secret rock ‘n’ roll potion and it’s not. It’s usually the downfall of those great rock musicians.

I've been in pain everyday since I was around 9 years old and the only times I've ever felt fully without pain is after my hip knee and replacements and I've had a lot but on morphine, oxycontin etc. To know wow that's what no pain feels like I can see why people in chronic pain etc get addicted. But it also took away my ability to think coherently and I prefer my mind over body.
